"Women celebrating women to me means recognizing our likenesses as women, lifting each other up and celebrating the common thread in our struggles, joys, motivations and inspirations. We all need each other!!!"...words of wisdom from #MHGEM, Kristina Millsaps
What is the first thing you would like people to know about you?
I'd like to know your story. We are all so connected and I'd love to know more about you and get to know you when I meet you!
What is your favorite inspirational quote?
The wound is the place where the light enters you. ~ Rumi
What fuels your fire & what keeps you going (even when challenged)?
My Faith in God fuels my fire, always striving to keep my focus on God, especially when the circumstances of a challenge are difficult. Knowing that if I focus on Him that ALL things are possible. I have an amazing tribe of women who stand strong in their Faith and who keep me inspired and wanting to emulate how they live out their journeys. I am also fueled by raising my daughters who are 14 and 9. I try to stay in the consciousness of the example I am setting for them and how my actions or reactions will set the tone of how they will walk through life as women. My wish for them is to become strong, independent, confident women who will empower each other and other women.
Can you share a trial/challenge you have experienced? How did you handle it?
When I was pregnant with both of my girls, I had the routine blood tests done to determine if there would be any genetic defects. With one of my daughters, I was considered "Advanced Maternal Age". My blood work showed both times for high risk of two different genetic disorders. I went through much more intensive testing for both of them because we wanted to know what we were looking at, but I knew that if the further testing showed positive results we were going to let God's plan work itself out. It was one of the times I really turned to God and learned to trust Him and his plans for me and my family. The actual tests and waiting periods were physically and emotionally challenging, but my Faith was being built. God is in control. After several months of testing and waiting, the tests came back negative for both of the genetic disorders and we had two healthy baby girls.
What does Women Celebrating Women mean/look like to you?
Women celebrating women to me means recognizing our likenesses as women, lifting each other up and celebrating the common thread in our struggles, joys, motivations and inspirations. We all need each other!!! Coming back to a place of loving ourselves and loving each other for the light we each contribute to this world. Knowing how to reach out and to receive that back. My favorite thing about Women Celebrating Women is learning other's stories, sharing our own, finding connecting points and going deep.
